The MSSBU executive committee members are a group of individuals who not only have the necessary skills and expertise to deliver a 'strong' Med Soc, but are also a committee who have have a strong drive, passion and dedication in wanting to improve the welfare of each and every student, from first to fifth year.
G’day, my name is Haydn and I am your Medical Society President for 2017. It is the people at our university that have truly made my experience as a medical student, unforgettable. Whilst studying medicine has been a rewarding challenge, I am fortunate that over the years our students have developed such strong academic and social calendars to get me through! In 2017, my goal is to continue to strengthen and build upon these successes to ensure your experience is also unforgettable! Externally, I will advocate to ensure that our collective voice is heard on issues at Queensland Medical Students’ Council (QLDMSC) and at Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) council. Please don’t hesitate to say hello or ask me any questions! I hope you are as excited as I am for the year ahead.
My role as Clinical VP is to coordinate with the medical students in clinical years and to ensure their needs are met. It involves the organisation of events catered for clinical years to allow for a smooth transition into becoming a medical professional. I also will be helping the rest of MedSoc and I have a special interest in many of the social activities including revamping our classic events such as Medeagle, Scrub Crawl, Med Ball and Grad Ball.
In my position as Pre-Clinical Vice President, I will pay particular attention to events and issues of concern for medical students in their pre-clinical years. A large part of my role will focus on delivering an engaging and enjoyable Med Camp and O week in Semester 2. I also will be looking after the internal runnings of MSSBU to ensure we all work smoothly and productively.
As Treasurer, I look after the money. The bulk of my role is to organise funding for the year’s events. I also deal with BUSA and the university to get student funding for conferences and other engagements. Within MSSBU, I work closely with other members to make sure there plans are possible and that they serve the desires of the students.
Hey everyone, my name is Vamsi Veeranki and i’m currently the Secretary for MSSBU. My role involves managing the logistics behind MSSBU meetings and building opportunities to liaison between all the medical societies at Bond. I specifically chose this role because it provides a comprehensive birds eye view of the inner workings of every subcommittee in MSSBU. Working as the secretary has been a challenging but eye-opening experience so far and I’m looking forward to continue giving it my best for the semesters to come.
